Brighter Smile with Carbon Coco

Black charcoal to whiten the teeth? I know, it sounds crazy but to put it simply, it works!

I never had super white teeth that could pass toothpaste commercials. I know that the natural color of our enamels is still inherent, so I just want to maintain it that way as much as possible. But with external factors like food, the beverages we drink, and even aging — our teeth could suffer from serious discoloration. I personally drink coffee every day and have a big appetite for sweets and chocolates so my teeth have stained over time.

Thus, when Carbon Coco reached out to me to try their Ultimate Carbon Kit, of course, I’m all for it. The said kit was their best-selling one, and it includes the following:

#1 Activated Charcoal Tooth Polish

This is their main product — a pitch-black powder made from 100% Organic Coconut Shell Activated Charcoal with a hint of bentonite powder and lemon myrtle. It’s an oxidized version of charcoal which actively removes external stains from the teeth without the toxic ingredients used in other commercial tooth whitening products. The tooth polish can also change the pH in the mouth, helping to reduce the cause of cavities, gum disease, and bad breath.

#2 Activated Charcoal Tooth Paste

Carbon Coco’s Activated Carbon Toothpaste has a unique Activated Charcoal fluoride-free formula that fights cavities, plaque, gingivitis, bad breath, and keeps the mouth fresh. It is said to reduce bacteria build-up by up to 90 percent that lasts for 12 hours.

#3 Toothbrush with Bamboo Bristles

The toothbrush bristles are not entirely made of bamboo. It only has bamboo embedded to every bristle on the brush. For hygienic purposes, I wish it came with a cover or a holder.

How to Use:

Simply dip the wet toothbrush in the tub of fine, odorless black powder. You may use a small amount; a little goes a long way! Then, gently brush the teeth with it for a minute or two. Spit and rinse thoroughly.

After the tooth polish, brush with the toothpaste to protect your teeth from further staining. It’s also black but it turns into a white foam while brushing and has a subtle minty taste. Some black specs from the activated charcoal might still be visible on your gums/lips even after rinsing, so use this time to clean the mouth completely.

Curious to know the results?

After using the kit for a few weeks, I noticed that my teeth are definitely whiter. In fact, even after the first brushing, the result is already noticeable. The black tooth polish works great in absorbing the stains and toxin build-up on the enamel, and the teeth really feel squeaky clean after. There’s no unusual odor or even aftertaste. Though it looks nasty when in use, it’s not really that way at all! My teeth and mouth always feel that they had a good spa experience whenever I use the Carbon Coco kit.

Another thing I notice is that my tooth and gum sensitivity seems to have improved. My gums always bleed when I brush even when I do it very lightly. Surprisingly, it isn’t the same when I use Carbon Coco. I’m planning to use the products regularly and see if the sensitivity gets relieved further.

The only drawback of the activated charcoal is that it’s so messy to use! I’ve tried many ways I could minimize the “catastrophe” but unnecessary splatters are really inevitable. Since the powder is black, it’s so easy to spot the mess on a white sink. I have to use a rag or a wet wipe to clean the sink (and the walls/mirrors) after because rinsing it with water doesn’t do it. Just saying because some people might be particular on this.

Before & After * Photos were taken about two weeks apart. I’ve only used Carbon Coco twice a week but the difference is visible even when I can’t replicate the same lighting (the lighting is poor on the After photo but the teeth still look whiter). I also didn’t edit the photos so it won’t affect the actual results. My goal is not to have super white teeth but to maintain its natural color because I drink too many cups of coffee and eat lots of sweets. :)

Do I recommend it?

Carbon Coco products work for sure. But in my honest opinion, the Activated Charcoal Tooth Polish will do just fine (especially when you’re on a budget). It’s the product that really works wonder for your pearly whites. You can still use your own toothbrush and brush with your usual toothpaste.

The tub of tooth polish is filled to the brim. It could last for about 2-3 months when used once every night.

Taking good care of our teeth and mouth is important because it plays a big role in our general health. Also, everyone loves the idea of having a brighter smile. It’s probably one of the first things other people notice about us. So there’s no question that whiter teeth and good oral health are essential to boost confidence and overall wellbeing.
