Water Baptism – A New Life in Christ

You know that feeling when something beautiful happens? You are so happy and excited that you want to show and tell everyone how great you feel. Like when your crush said hi, or you top a major exam, or you got promoted, or engaged, or went into anything life-changing. Water Baptism is like that. It’s a declaration of a new life in Christ. It’s like shouting to the world, “Hey, I’m a sinner! But I am saved and made righteous by Christ! I was dead because of sin but I am raised to live a new life with what Jesus did on the cross!!” – a bold step of faith to proclaim that you already left your old life of sin and is now ready to commit, surrender and obey God.

“Or have you forgotten that when we were joined with Christ Jesus in baptism, we joined him in his death? For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.” – {Romans 6:3-4}

Water Baptism symbolizes sins being washed away. But it is not the water that saves us; it is Christ’s death and resurrection. Jesus Christ is the only one who saves. Not good works. Not water baptism. Not religion. Let’s be clear on that. :)

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” – {Ephesians 2:8-9}

Water Baptism is also NOT an entry ritual or formality to convert to Christianity or join any organization (I used to think it is). Christianity is all about having a close relationship to God, living according to His Word and submitting to His will.

Victory Weekend

I was already baptized when I was a baby but this time felt more special. It was my choice. I understand what it meant. God has been so faithful in my life, blessing me beyond belief, and transforming me to become a better person every day. Something I don’t deserve. But thankfully, my sins are not bigger than His love for me.

I feel so blessed to be part of our church. One of the greatest gifts that I have received as a Christian is not only to be surrounded with amazing Godly people, but also to be showered with inspiring testimonies, loving prayers, and the presence of God’s Word in my life.
