I’m a huge fan of creating lists – Travel Bucket List especially. There are just a lot of things that I love in this world and listing them down gives me something to aspire and look forward to.
My third-world passport, however, comes with its own restrictions. Thus, I always try to be realistic with my goals and only dream of something I know I can actually make happen. But I realized that the more I go out there and brave the unknown, the more my heart craves to see, meet and experience. And the more the impossible becomes possible. As Anais Nin puts it, “Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage”. This is so true. My dream destinations became achievable because I allowed myself to be open to possibilities.
…in no particular order.
Just because Lord of the Rings lured us with its spectacular, scenic locations! This country seemed to came out of a dream – well-preserved and postcard perfect from any angle.
I love the vast activities they offer from sightseeing to something more extreme like bungee jumping which is also in my bucket list! New Zealand pretty much covers everything. They are known to be the Great Outdoors and a visit would not be complete without some adrenaline rush.
When one of my colleagues, a Dutch expat who migrated to New Zealand, told me that NZ is the most beautiful country, I knew I just have to go there!
Including Greece in my bucket list isn’t hard to see why. This country is historic, romantic and gastronomic all at the same time. I can easily revel in the stunning views, have fun under the sun and indulge myself with Greek food.
Lounge around, discover winding little alleys, snap beautiful photos, read a book, eat pita bread, order a drink, snap gorgeous photos, swim by the beach, dip in the pool, watch the sunset, snap wonderful photos. Sounds like a plan? Aahh. It could be that there’s no other place like this on earth. So yeah, I cannot wait for you, Greece!
Two things I’m excited about Norway: The Northern Lights and the Husky Safari. Both of these are my dream experiences.
Northern Lights or the Aurora Borealis is a natural display of multi-coloured lights that sways and glows in the night sky. People who have seen it says that it’s a spiritual and humbling experience and even if I have only encountered it in photos, I agree that only God’s hand can make those lights dance. It’s too magical to be real. Seriously, I may cry loads of happy tears when I see it.
Husky Safari or dog sledding in the snow is a true delight to someone like me who lived in tropical countries all my life. This experience is something I don’t usually see even from frequent travelers and the kind that is not easily accessible to everyone especially on our side of the world. All the more reason why I wanted it so much! Plus I love dogs and the huskies are just too cute!
There goes my top 3 bucket list picks!
