One of the resort’s activities I am very much looking forward to is the Sunset Cruise. I love sunsets. There’s just something about this phenomenal transition that always leaves me in awe, and thankful for another wonderful day.

Borneo’s sunrise from Mount Kinabalu

Gaya Island Resort is facing the east, a beautiful sunrise can be easily seen from our Kinabalu Suite but sunset is hidden behind it so we boarded a speedboat that transferred us to a yacht, that took us further south, away from the island. Yes, getting on board a luxury yacht is already well worth it. Inside, there’s entertainment room, kitchen, dining and a number of bedroom suites that looks like an interior of a 5-star hotel. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to take photos inside as the yacht is private. But it was “fabulous” as our yacht-mate described it. :)

We moved up the upper deck together with the others. The Lumba Lumba (name of the yacht) only caters to 12 people at a time, at RM 307 per person. It was a bit pricey than what we initially inquired because only 10 people made reservations. To add more extravagance, there’s free flow of wine which our European and American yacht-mates enjoyed so much.

We got acquainted with other expats in Asia: American couple from Hong Kong, British couple from Shanghai, Europeans and a resident from Jersey. We’re the only Asians in that cruise and oh boy, it was difficult to express and communicate if English (especially non-business) is not your native tongue. We managed to get along and we enjoyed listening to them telling stories (no work related!) about life, travel, and their experiences.

Watching the sunset, my mind started to wander… I want this kind of life. I want to grow old traveling with my family, experiencing, feeling, chasing sunsets, creating memories, loving every moment of the day. I want to cultivate a good life by nurturing my passion and learning every day. Let’s see how this daydream goes. :)

The Lumba Lumba ^^

It was my first time to catch a sunset on a luxurious yacht! One item off my bucket list! :)

Isn’t it fun to just let time pass by? Have you watched the sunset from a yacht before?
